Elaine Roe Felts

Elaine Roe Felts – aged 63, of Mio, Michigan – passed away peacefully, in her
daughter’s arms in the early hours of Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
Since 2020, Elaine had been battling lung cancer, which eventually metastasized
throughout her body. On August 27, 2022 she made the decision to enter hospice
care. The family would like to thank the team at Compassus for their extraordinary
service and care during this difficult time.
Though born “down state”, Elaine spent most of her life in the serenity of Oscoda
County, and considered Big Creek Township – specifically, Luzurne – to be her
home. While she spent time in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as well as California, Colorado,
and other western states, she always returned home to the safety and seclusion of
the Huron National Forest, and the banks of the AuSable River.
Elaine was preceded in death by her father: Darrell “Doc” Felts, her cousin: Donald
“Zack” Lee, her best friend: Debbie Troyer, her longtime partner: Joseph Mishler,
and countless other friends and family members. She often mentioned how
“everyone has died” when speaking of her close friends; the family takes comfort in
knowing that her welcome to the hereafter was likely quite the party.
Elaine is survived by her mother: Lucy Faye Felts, her daughter: Jessica Felts, her
granddaughter: Josephine “Babu” Jensen, her brother: Jay (Kitty) Felts, and a small
army of extended family members and surviving friends.
In accordance with her wishes, a private service for immediate family has taken
place, and was followed by cremation. There are no plans for a memorial service at
this time.
