Mr. Edward B. ""Bud"" Doak, age 74, of Luzerne, MI, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at his home.
Edward was born on May 29, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan to David and Margaret (Stanemm) Doak. He served his country in the US Navy. He married Ruth A. (Brethauer) Doak on May 9, 1969 in Saginaw. The couple settled in Luzerne in 1969. Edward worked for General Motors-Plant 5 in Saginaw as a machine operator. He retired in 1992 after 31 years of service. Edward had served as Chief of the Luzerne Fire Department and was a member of the US Forestry Firefighters. He also served as a Medical First Responder for the Oscoda County Ambulance Service and the Tri-Town Atlanta Fire Department. He also was a member of the Auxiliary Police with the Oscoda County Sheriff Department and worked for Oscoda County in Juvenile Transport. Edward was also a member of the Luzerne American Legion Post #162.
Surviving are his wife Ruth; his children: Tammy King of Saginaw, MI; Darlene Patterson of Saginaw, MI; Colleen (Richard) Peters of Saginaw, MI; and Laura (Jeffrey) Szwarc of Hanover, PA ; his brother Dave Doak of Alger, MI; his sister-in-law Rose Gies of Saginaw, MI; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his son Loyad Doak, 2 sons-in-law, and his brothers and sisters.
Visitation Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 1-4 and 6-9PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI and again on Friday, March 18, 2011 from 10 AM until funeral service at 11 AM at Lashley Funeral Home with Deacon Jeffrey Szwarc officiating. Military Honors offered by Luzerne American Legion Post #162. Interment at Luzerne Cemetery, Luzerne, MI.
