Mr. Douglas Kaye Layman, 68, of Mio died Wednesday, October 10th, 2007 at his Home in Mio, MI. Visitation is Friday October 12th from 4-9 PM at The Lashley Funeral Home in Mio. Service is at The Comins Mennonite Church, Comins, MI, Saturday at 11 AM with Reverend John Manning officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery Fairview, MI.
Douglas was born in Fairview, MI on October 20, 1938 to the late Manley E. and Lucy (Weddage) Layman and had lived in the Fairview area all his life.
He retired, after 30 years, from The Oscoda County Road Commission in March of 1998. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and will be missed by all his friends at the Coffee Shop.
He is survived by Sharon Canute his loving companion for the past 11 years; Sons: Douglas (Michelle) Layman, Steve (Marsha) Layman both of Mio; Daughter-in-law Tonya Layman of Fairview; and Brother: William Layman of St. Louis, MI.
He is also survived by 2 grandchildren: Hanna, Devin, and 2 great grandchildren Makayla, Raelynn and several Nieces and Nephews.
Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Wife Lucille M. Layman, Brother Eugene ""Junior"" Layman and Niece Vickie Toyra
