Mrs. Dorothy Mabel Yoder, 88, of Fairview died Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at The Home at AuSable Valley Community in Fairview, MI. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home in Mio, MI., with her funeral Service at Fairview Mennonite Church in Fairview at 11 AM on Thursday 8, 2007. Pastor David Barker and Pastor Derek Yoder will officiate. Interment at Fairview Cemetery.
Dorothy was born April 29, 1918 in Elida, Ohio to the late Emory and Lela (Diller) Layman. She moved to Michigan in 1936 and married her husband, John K. Yoder in Dayton Ohio. She had been an active member of The Fairview Mennonite Church and had owned an Adult Foster Care Home. Dorothy was a self taught musician playing the piano, organ, and the accordion actively in the community and sharing her music ministry with many other churches, including The River Brethren Church in Rust, MI. Dorothy had a generous spirit, always willing to help those in need. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, flower gardening, and was a great cook.
Mrs. Yoder is survived by her Sons: Nelson E. Yoder of Comins, MI. and Roger and Myra Yoder of Fairview; Daughters: Ramona and Mike Blouin of Claire, MI. and Deborah and Skeet Dew of Fairview; Grandchildren: Derek and Alice Yoder of North Collins, NY. Andrea and Jon Lee of Petoskey, MI. Paige and Lewis Chaney of Ossineke, MI. Lee Blouin (Fiancé, Colin Olsen) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Louis Blouin of Traverse City, MI. Claire Blouin of Mt. Pleasant, MI. Chelsea and Josh Robinson of Walker, MI. and Ashton Evans of Fairview, MI.; Great Grandchildren: Katherine, Rebekah, Joel and Owen Yoder of North Collins, NY. and Olivia, Chloe and Silas Lee of Petoskey, MI.; Brothers: Ernest Layman and Carl Layman both of Fairview, and Oliver (Patricia) Layman of North Carolina and sisters: Mary Alice (Ellsworth) Handrich and Grace Handrich both of Fairview.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, John K. Yoder on September 21, 1991, her parents Emory and Lela Layman, son James K. Yoder and three Grandchildren: Casey, Corey and Thad Yoder and Brother Edwin Layman.
Arrangements were handled by Lashley Funeral Home of Mio.
