Dorothy Mccollum

Dorothy E. (Owen) McCollum, age 94, passed away on May 23, 2012 at the Brook Assisted Living in Grayling, Michigan.
Dorothy was born in Highland Park, Michigan on January 31, 1918.  She resided most of her life in Mio, Michigan.  She graduated in 1936 from Mio High School.  She was a retired school teacher with a Masterâ??s Degree and was a member of the Michigan Education Association, the American Cancer Society, and the Lions Club.  She enjoyed playing cards with her bridge club, dancing, music, and travelling (as she spent many winters in Florida).
Dorothy is survived by her husband Charles McCollum of Mio; son Leland (Bonnie) Owen of Hillman; daughter Darlene (Lee) Collet of Norton Shores;  son Garry (Cynthia) Owen of Alger;  son Greg Owen of Sterling; daughter Cheryl Owen of Fruitport; and 7 grandchildren:  Mark Owen, Paul Owen, Corbin Collet, Cary Collet, Clinton Owen, Kayla Sabo, and Becca Sabo.  She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents:  Warren Belden and Fonte Rice; and her first husband Ivan M. Owen in 1982, all of Mio.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 11 AM-1 PM until the time of Funeral Services at 1 PM at Mio United Methodist Church, Mio, MI with Rev. Marcel Lamb officiating.  Interment to follow at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, MI.
