Dora Ellen Smith

Dora E. Smith, age 96 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at her daughter’s home on Friday, July 3, 2015.

Dora was born in Port Huron, Michigan on September 22, 1918 to Jay and Sarah (Galbraith) Lake. She worked at Troyer’s Meat Market for about 20 years as a cashier. Dora enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardening. Her hobbies were crocheting, doll collecting, gardening, and working crossword puzzles. She loved her birds and especially her dog Sasha.

Dora is survived by her children: Kenneth & Peggy (Dew) Smith of Finger, TN; Malcolm & Donna (Bugg) Smith of Mio, MI; Sharon (Smith) Webb of Hale, MI; and Donald & Jeanie (Singler) Smith of Mio, MI; 25 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John D. Smith; her children: Gary Smith, Nancy (Smith) Steinman, and Gail Smith; her brother Victor Lake; 2 grandchildren: Edward Smith and Kelli (Steinman) Boone; and 1 great-grandson Joshua Gerrard.

A Graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 11 AM at Kittle Cemetery, Mio, Michigan, with Pastor Thomas Jones officiating.
