Dora Evelyn Miller
Mrs. Evelyn Miller, age 89, of Mio, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Bortz Health Care of Rose City. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM at The Mio United Methodist Church, with Rev. Marcel Lamb officiating Private interment of ashes at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.
Evelyn was born in Paris, Tennessee on November 21, 1918 to the late Stephen Horton and Dora (Gately) Finch. She grew up and graduated from High School in Paris. She married the late Homer Miller, on June 14, 1944, and was a loving wife for 62 years until his passing in August, 2006.
Homer and Evelyn settled in Detroit, MI before moving to Mio in 1966 where they owned and operated the AuSable Auto Supply until their retirement in 1978. They were very active in the Mio United Methodist Church and many community and civic organizations.
She is survived by two nieces: Diana (Rodney) Smith of Warren,MI, and Deborah Smotherman of Lebanon, Tennessee; great niece Tamara (Ronald) Griffiths of Troy, MI and great nephews: James Mathy of Troy, MI, Carl Eric Taylor, Jr. (Nena) and Dustin Taylor of Lebanon, Tennessee. She is also survived by two great grandnieces and three great grandnephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by sisters: Alma ""Billie"" (John) Plaskett and Ruby (Jack) Haines and brothers: Johnny Finch, Travis ""Buck"" (Ann) Finch, and Everett, her twin, (Olene) Finch.
