Donald J. Prause

Donald Julius Prause, age 77, of Grayling, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 at his home.
Donald was born on September 13, 1930 to Julius E. and Edith H. (Ward) Prause in Central Lake, MI
He is survived by:
Brother - Robert (Marie) Prause of Grayling, MI Sister - LouAnn (Bill) Rife of Traverse City, MI
Children: Jim Prause of Dove Canyon, CA; Charlene (Jack) Overturf of Hunnington Beach, CA
Stan (Nancy) Prause of Hemet, CA; Beverly Smith (Carol Mickelson) of San Dimas, CA; Dennis (Ten) Prause of High Pointe, NC; Dave (Lome) Prause of Falmouth, MT; Larry (Debbie) Prause of Alanson, MI
Brad Prause of Oden, MI and Dan Prause of Grayling, MI. Step-Children: Dennis (Sue) Pittman of Florissant, CO; Scott Pittman of Grayling, MI; Denise (Glenn) Gault of Grayling, MI; Wendy (Kevin) Pratt of Gaylord, MI; Randy (Lori) of Grayling, MI and Sandra Pittman of Grayling, MI
44 Grandchildren and 37 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: Wife, Patsey (Pittman) Prause; Parents, Julius E. and Edith H. (Ward) Prause; Brother, David Prause; Paternal grandparents, William and Margaret Prause; Maternal grandparents Ben and Mary Ward
Don attended Central Lake Schools; Served 4 years in the Coast Guard. He attended UCLA and MI STATE where he acquired his bachelors degree in accounting. In 1974 he started his own accounting business in Grayling, ""Don's Accounting,"" which he handed down to his youngest son Dan Prause in 2005.
Don enjoyed his work, camping, fishing, hunting, golfing and most of all his family. He was a past treasurer for the Grayling Fairgrounds and Redskins; Participated in Boyscouts; Was a member of the Lions Club,and Eagles Club
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering and Luncheon, for family and friends wll be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Grayling Eagles Club. Interment of ashes will be in the family's private cemetery in Grayling.
