Delbert Laverne Zook

Delbert “Zookie” Zook, age 92 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at The Home at Wellspring Lutheran Community on Sunday, December 27, 2015.
Delbert was born in Fairview, Michigan on April 5, 1923 to Chauncey and Salina (Sharp) Zook. He graduated from Fairview High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1943 He was a dairy farmer. Zookie had attended the Fairview Mennonite Church, and most recently the Mio Church of God. Zookie enjoyed feeding the birds, and being in the woods. He also enjoyed ice hockey, ice fishing, and softball. He had managed the feed store softball team. He also enjoyed laughing with his family and friends.
Delbert is survived by his sister Ruth Webb of Fairview, Michigan; his brother Norman Zook of Bend, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Vera Yoder, Virgil Zook, Vesta Handrich, and Truman Zook.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016, at 11 AM at the Fairview Mennonite Church with Pastor David Price officiating. Interment of Ashes at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, MI.
Memorial donations may be made to Lydia’s Gate or to the Oscoda County Senior Center.
