Dawn Darlene Thayer, 87, passed away August 6, 2024. She was born on April 4, 1937, in Mio, Michigan.
She is preceded in death by her father, William LeGrand Smith, mother, Bernice Ethel Henry, sisters, Sandra Kay Adams, and Billie Delphine Bugbee, and an infant brother Gary Kent Smith. The surviving family includes her daughters, Laura (Joel) Bowdish and Theresa (Tim) Jach, grandson, Jared (Jen) Bowdish granddaughters Tarah (Stephen) Grennell and Amanda Edson, Great grandchildren Oliver Bowdish, Hendrick Bowdish, Killian Grennell, brother Ronald (Lindeen) Smith, sister Johna (Joe) Odette, brother Brad Prescott, and aunt Geneise Henry Notar.
Dawn loved her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. Her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews all adored their Aunt Dawn and loved staying with her. Some even kept suitcases packed in case Aunt Dawn invited them to spend the night.
Dawn graduated from Mio Ausable High School in 1955 and attended business college. She was married to Larry Eugene Thayer from 1960 to 1982. After spending many years in several western states, they returned to Flint, Michigan and then settled in Clio.
Dawn will be missed by those who loved her. We will miss her singing silly songs, love of lemon desserts, massive costume jewelry collection, and her addiction to lip balm! But above all, the way she made us feel loved.
Services will be held at Lashley Funeral Home
in Mio, Michigan. Visiting 11 Am to 1:00 Pm Saturday 17th, With Pastor Keven Salsbury Officiating. Service is at 1:00 PM. Graveside at kittle cemetery to follow.
