David S. Rider

David S. Rider, age 56 of Rose City, Michigan, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 28, 2016.
David was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on June 29, 1960 to William and Betty Jean (Oltersdorf) Rider, Sr. He married Colleen Briggs on August 31, 1979 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The couple moved to Rose City in 1991. David was an active member of both the Mio and West Branch/Rose City communities. He coached foottball and baseball in both Mio and West Branch. He was a gifted writer and was very active in several online writing communities. He authored and published a book: “Another Sunrise”. David enjoyed photography (especially nature photography), and was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
David is survived by his wife Colleen of Rose City, Michigan; his mother Betty Jean Rider of Ypsilanti, MI; his children: Stacy (Mikhail) Karasev of Plymouth, MI; and Jason (Krystal) Rider of Royal Oak, MI; 2 brothers William (Barb) Rider, Jr and Steven (Lisa) Rider, both of Ypsilanti, MI; and 2 grandchildren: Sofiya and Roman. He was preceded in death by his father William Raymond Rider, Sr.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Private Memorial Service will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, cards and/or letters of sympathy may be sent to Lashley Funeral Home.
