Daniel John Ellis

Daniel J. Ellis, age 83 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at Medilodge of Gaylord on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

Dan was born in Oscoda County on December 26, 1939. He owned and operated a sawmill for much of his life. Dan was a member of the Mio Seventh Day Adventist Church. He loved his garden, deer hunting, mushroom picking, and, back in the day, he played a mean game of pool.

Dan is survived by his children: Daniel (Deborah) Ellis, Jr., Barbara (Donald) Crawford, Richard (Carol) Ellis, and Casey (Christen) Ellis; his sisters Frances Stutesman and Rosemary Hoffman; his brother Joe Ellis; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Stepchildren: Diana (Tim) Brown, Marjorie Amidon, Lowell (Hope) Bailey, Jr., Julia Stacy, Ron (Brenda) Bailey and Robert Bailey; numerous step grandchildren and step  great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lila, his father Richard W. Ellis, his mother Alice Booth Ellis, and his siblings: Alice, Lyle, Sherman, Faith, Frank, Beverly, David, and Douglas.

Visitation 4:00 - 7:00 PM Monday, Nov. 6, 2023 at The Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.

Visitation also on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time Funeral Services at 11:00 on at The Mio Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mio, Michigan with Pastor Ken Micheff  officiating.

Interment at Kittle Cemetery Mio, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oscoda County Commission on Aging.
