Cora "Cookie" Colson

Cora E. “Cookie” Colson, age 78 of Mio, Michigan, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at her home.
Cookie was born on January 18, 1937 to William and Mary (Christy) Ruttan in Algonac, Michigan. She married James in Pinconning on November 26, 1955. The couple lived in Bay City, MI, then settled in Linwood, MI, where they raised their family. She was a homemaker and had been a 4H leader. The couple retired to Mio in 1990. Cookie always loved winter and snow. In her younger years, she enjoyed figure skating and watching the Olympics figure skating competitions. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, watching and feeding the birds, and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially loved white radish sandwiches!
Cookie is survived by her husband James of Mio, MI; her children: James Colson of Traverse City, MI; Jeffery (Rebecca) Colson of Lapeer, MI; Jill (Steve) Basquez of Kawkawlin, MI and Jodi (Jerry) Johnson of Mio, MI; her sisters: Rose, Juanita, Helen, and Chris; her brothers: Dick, Bruce, Terry, and Howard; 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Fred.
Visitation Tuesday, February 3, 2014 from 5 - 8 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI; and from 12 Noon – 2 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 also at Lashley Funeral Home with Funeral Services at 2 PM with Pastor Brenda Klacking officiating. Interment will follow at Kittle Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
