Constance J. Kern, age 82 of Lewiston, Michigan, formerly of Livingston County, Michigan, passed away at her home on Friday, June 23, 2017.
Constance was born to John and Minnie (Youakim) Wenderski in Detroit, Michigan on March 23, 1935. She was a resident of Lewiston for 30 years. Constance previously resided in Livingston County, where she worked and retired from the Human Resource Department of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor after 17 years of service. After moving to Lewiston, Constance was elected to 3 terms as Clerk for Greenwood Township, from which she retired. Constance was always an active member of her community. She received a plaque for her 9 years of service on the Michigan Commission on Aging. She was also an active parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lewiston. She enjoyed crafting, cooking, and quilting with fellow members of her church.
Constance is survived by her children: Julie Duncan, Bernice Parker, Robert Duncan, Theresa Gibson, and Richard Duncan; her sisters Mary Pearson and Kathleen Lehman; her brothers James Pearson and Michael Pearson; and her grandchildren: Charlene Davis, Curtis Parker, Amber Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence, Nathan Lawrence, Christian Lawrence, Justene Duncan, Christina Duncan, Jennifer Aldrich, Zachary Van Buren, and Danica Aldrich. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James T. Kern, her brother “Sonny”, and her former husband Wayne Duncan.
In accordance with Constance’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lewiston, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Commission on Aging, St. Francis of Assisi of Lewiston, The American Cancer Society, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
