Clayton Gerald Bugg

July 15, 1936 — April 29, 2020

Clayton "Claytie" Bugg passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family that loved him, on Wednesday April 29, 2020 at the age of 83.

Claytie was born in Curran, Michigan on July 15, 1936, the son of Leroy and Wanda Bugg. He served as a Private in the Army until 1956 when he returned home as a life long active member of his community; participating in the Mitchell Citizens Watch, Mio Dummy Club, Meals on Wheels and volunteer driver for those in need; as well as the Curran Black Bear Festival, where he served as Grand Marshall. Claytie Bugg will also be remembered as McKinley's friendly bartender and karaoke star, which is where he captured the heart of his soul mate Barbie in 1980 and the rest is history.

Claytie will be deeply missed by his loving companion of 40 years, Barbara; brothers David (Cheryl) Bugg and Robert (Margaret) Bugg; his children Randy Bugg, Dawn Olson, Becky Brink and their children; his step-children Larry (Monica) Fowler; Vicky (Darla) Fowler; Kathy (Mike) Bujalski; and Lisa (Ray) Schanck. He is also survived by his grandchildren Troy (Rebecca) Fowler; Todd Fowler; Dean (Yvonne) Spitzer; Tonya (Terre) Rowden; Brad Nichols; Paul Rowden Jr; Cody Fowler; Chelsea (Nick) Kalbfleisch; and Dustin Schanck as well as many great grandchildren and his dear hospice nurse, April.

Claytie enjoyed taking long rides with Barb, never knowing where their adventures would take them but almost always stopping to collect a treasure or two along the way. Clayton and Barbara were apart of making many memories together that will be held dearly by his loved ones infinitely.

Claytie joined his parents; sisters Lorraine, Bette, and Eleanor; and infant brother Richard and brother Donald while being welcomed into his next journey in life by his beloved grandchild and partner in crime, Sheena Nichols.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date.

Arrangements by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.
