Mr. Claude Edward Sands, 87, of Hillman died Thursday, April 26th, 2007 at his home in Hillman, MI.
Viewing is Sunday 1-9 PM. Funeral Services at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 30th, with Reverend Martha Hartman officiating, both viewing and service are at Lashley Funeral Home in Mio, MI. Interment at Fairview Cemetery Fairview, MI.
Claude was born in Fairview, MI. to the late Ernest and Alice (Slate) Sands. After serving in the U.S. Army as a Pfc in WW II, he married Dorothy G. (Granger) on September 1, 1945 in Grand Blanc, MI. He retired in 1981 after 31 years as a Tool Grinder at National Twist Drill & Tool Company in Rochester, MI. He moved to Fairview for three years and then settled in Hillman in 1985. Claude loved to travel and experience mountains and nature. He also enjoyed fishing, mushroom picking, woodworking and playing cards, a ""Euchre Pro.""
He is survived by his Wife of 61 years Dorothy, Daughter Beverly (Jim) Greene of Clifford, MI. Sons: Justin (Diane) Sands and Richard (Margaret) Sands both of Oxford, MI. Doug (Rose) Sands of Silverwood, MI. Tom (Ginger) Sands of Fairview, MI. And Brothers: Chester, Orville and Donald Sands. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Claude is preceded in death by a Daughter Debra Sands, Parents, 4 Brothers and 4 Sisters.
