Christine "Kris" Kauffman

On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Christine Elaine Kauffman passed away peacefully at The Villa of Rose City following a long illness.

She was born on June 20, 1976 to Thomas and Barbara Kauffman in West Branch Michigan. She grew up in the Mio area and graduated from Mio AuSable High School in 1994. She spent many years working in multiple factories in northern Michigan. She was a faithful employee who worked many midnight shifts so she could spend time with family and enjoy the great outdoors during the daytime.

Surviving her are her parents, Thomas Kauffman of Fairview MI and Barbara (Lawrence) Adams of Bassett, VA. She is also survived by three sisters; Jewel (Eric) Micklash of Curtisville MI, Deborah (Lewis) Krupinski of Fairview, Angela Delph of Fairview , and her loving boyfriend, Jason Kowalski. Additionally, she leaves nieces and nephews: Kristopher Kalbfleisch, Stoch Micklash, Lena Micklash, Allen Mitchell, Mara Krupinski, Lauren Krupinski, Alexandria Krupinski, Sara Brown, Chloe Brown, Joshua Brown, Zachary Bascom, Sara Yoder, Kaitlin Culbertson, Kaylee Keitchen and Alayna Kauffman.

Kris was preceded in death by her nephew, Kenneth Kalbfleisch and her sister, Lisa Brown.

Kris loved all things outdoors and couldn’t wait for camping season, mushroom hunting, berry picking, and gardening. She took great joy in making crafts and baking for others. She loved a campfire paired with a nice cold beer and doted on her three beloved cats. Her sense of humor and thoughtfulness will be missed by all who loved her. Her family is especially grateful to Heather Leaf who made Kris laugh and spent time loving on her when we could not. Angels live among us.

Cremation has taken place per Kris’s wishes. No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements made by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio MI.
