Christina Marie Salas

Christina M. Salas, age 62 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

Christina was born in Pontiac, Michigan on September 8, 1960 to Julius and Donna (Haupt) Kovacs.  She graduated from Lapeer High School-East with the Class of 1979. Christina married Cresencio Salas on December 28, 1983 in Lapeer, Michigan.  She worked for Metakote in Lapeer before moving to Mio in 2002. Christina was an avid gardener. She enjoyed diamond art crafting, sewing, and watching TV. She loved horses and collected horse memorabilia. She was known affectionately as a “Minor Handyman” by her friends and family.

Christina is survived by her husband Cresencio Salas of Almont, MI; her children: Donna Salas of Mio, MI and Maria (Jon) Laner of Mio, MI; her sisters: Anna Mitchell and Rose Kovacs; her brothers: David, John, Billy, Tony, Richard, Daniel, and Kenneth Kovacs; and her grandchildren: Kaleb Kann, Allysyn Laner, Kalli Schullar, Josh Van Wormer, Tiffiani Kovacs, Abagail Kovacs, and Kenneth Kovacs, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Kim Kovacs.

Visitation on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 3 – 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the 4H for Equestrian Activities.
