Charles Reed

Charles S. ""Pat"" Reed, age 95, of Fairview, passed away Thursday, May 03, 2012 at his home.
Charles was born on March 21, 1917 in Burton, MI.  He married his second wife Jennie in 1977 in Mt. Morris, MI.  He worked as a welder for many years, retiring in April of 1980 from General Motors Flint Truck and Bus Plant.  The couple moved to Fairview in 1981.  Charlie attended Mio New Hope Assembly of God Church.  He will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand.
Surviving are his wife Jennie of Fairview, MI; his 10 children: Nellie (Tony) LaValley of Lapeer, MI; Gertrude Gooding of Inkster, MI; Joe Orvis of Flint, MI; Charlie Reed, Jr. of Burton, MI; Nancy Carmean of Traverse City, MI; Patty Bovee of Troy, MI; Frances Faulkner of Flint, MI; Elizabeth Chancelor of Townson, OK; George Ramey of Harrison, MI; and Edna (Jim) Earl of Flint, MI. He is also survived by his step-children: Betty (Pat) Murray, Ronald (Venesha) Merrill, Judy (Bryan) Curtis and Merie Merrill; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Elizabeth in 1965; and his sister Emma Merrill.
Visitation Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 1-4 and from 6-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI and again on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 12 Noon until the time of funeral services at 1 PM at the Mio New Hope Assembly of God Church, Mio, MI, with Pastor Russell Bowman officiating.  A Graveside Service will be held at Grace Lawn Community Cemetery, Flint, MI, on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11 AM.
