Butch Pavey, age 71 of Luzerne, Michigan died unexpectedly of natural causes on October 21, 2010 in Athens, Alabama while visiting his daughter and her family. He was born August 10, 1939 in Port Huron to Frank and Mary Pavey, and lived in the area for most of his life. He married Yvonne Suchin on November 25, 1964 in Port Huron. In 1987 Butch and Yvonne moved to Luzerne. Butch started working at the age of 16 for his parents at Pavey's Little Market in Clyde Township. He and Yvonne eventually purchased the business from Frank and Mary. They also owned and operated Pavey's Wholesale Produce. Butch also worked for the Mio Ausable Schools as a Supervisor Custodian, and later worked part-time at Whitehouse Disposal in Mio. Butch was a helpful friend to everyone he met. He loved to make people laugh, and would never turn down the chance to meet a stranger. He loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with them; they were his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Yvonne Pavey of Luzerne, 2 daughters, Tonya (Frank) Bohlinger Athens, Alabama, and Joyal Pavey of Rogers City, 3 grandchildren, Luke, Mary, and Madeline Bohlinger of Athens, Alabama, a sister, Mary Jane (Ken) Falk, several nieces and nephews, and his dog, ""Duke"". He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Pavey, a brother, Richard Pavey, and his uncle Bill Cook.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 PM in the Smith Family Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 11 AM Monday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - North, 1525 Hancock Street with The Rev. John Britt officiating.
Visitation Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral service at 1:00 PM at The Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with Reverend Marcel Lamb officiating. Interment at Luzerne Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 384 Grayling, MI 49738.
