Charles John (Chuck) McPeck Jr., age 80 of Fairview Ml, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Bortz Health Care of Rose City.Chuck was born on September 26, 1930 in Concord Ml, to Charles John Sr. and Margaret (Riker) McPeck. He married Betty Rice March 4, 1950 and worked on farms, Corning Glass Albion MI, and for Consumer Power Company in Jackson. He served his country in The US Military from June 1951 until May 1953 in many locations, including Atom bomb testing in Nevada, and clearing docks the winter of 1953 in Alaska; after returning from Service Chuck worked construction and in Oil field in the Concord area. In 1964 he accepted the call on his life by the Lord to serve at Camp Barakel. He also served mission work in KY, Illinois and Canada and was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church. Chuck also worked for Fairview Sand and Gravel, and Gascho Sawmill. His last employment was Fairview Sawmill. His biggest enjoyment was working specially welding and cutting wood.Surviving are his wife Betty, 2 sons Timothy John (Sonya) McPeck and Oscar Charles (Tina) McPeck, special Nephew Lyle (Janet) Rice; grandchildren: Micheal, William and Kelsey Faye; step grand children: Mark, William, Deanna Carpenter; step great grand children: Logan, Skylar, and Kattie, all adopted with love; sister Marilyn Roe Williams of Montrey, TN, nephew Joe Roe; brothers in law James Lloyd (Evelyn) Rice and Robert (Lois) Rice both of Jackson and many nieces and nephewsHe was preceded in death by his parents and son Gary Allen McPeck, brothers Hubert (Dutch) McPeck and Clinton McPeck. Sisters: Sylvia Williams and Audrey Melling.Visitation 4-9 PM Wednesday , October Oct 20, 2010 at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio and on Thursday October 21, 2010 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 AM at The Fairview Mennonite Church with Pastors Eldon Krider, Virgil Hershberger and Jack Williams officiating, Interment at Fairview Cemetery.
