Carol Singler, age 93 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at The Home at Wellspring Lutheran Services on Saturday, June 25, 2016.
Carol was born in Mesick, Michigan on November 25, 1922 to Ira and Winnie (Sours) McClain. She volunteered to serve in the WAVES during WWII. She was stationed in Washington, D.C., then was transferred to Honolulu, Hawaii after the Pearl Harbor attack. She met and married Robert Singler in Honolulu on September 10, 1945. Following the war, the couple moved to California where they lived before settling in Michigan in the 1950’s. They lived in Flint, where Carol worked as an accountant for AC Spark Plugs. Carol and Robert settled in Fairview, MI in 1969, where Carol worked as a bookkeeper for Fairview Hardware, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Mio Church of God. Carol enjoyed gardening, sewing, camping, and travelling.
Carol is survived by her children: Lynn Deen (John Kolvoord) of Mio, MI; Dianne (Dwayne) Gascho of Fairview, MI; Robert (Sandra) Singler, Jr. of Midland, MI; Jeanie(Donald) Smith of Mio, MI; Rick (Gail) Singler of Fairview, MI; and Cathleen Singler of Fairview, MI; her sister Doris (Richard) Waldoch of Little Falls, MN; her brother Lyle (Nadine) McClain of Flint, MI; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert A. Singler, Sr., her brothers: Kenneth and Ross; and her infant brother Oliver.
Visitation on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 6 -8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, and also from 10 AM until Funeral Services at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Lashley Funeral Home with Cathleen Singler officiating. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan.
