Carol Ann Chalkey

Carol A. Chalkey, age 77 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at Grayling Munson Hospital in Grayling, Michigan on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Carol was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 1, 1944 to Joseph and Bertha (Kaiman) Pitros. She helped out in her community in any and all ways she could. Carol attended the Mio TriPoint Church of God and was involved in their Coats for Kids drive for over 25 years. She also helped with the Mio/Fairview campgrounds for years, was very active in the Oscoda County Fair, and helped with the local food pantry. Carol was a long-standing member of The Red Cross, was a member of the Moose Lodge, and was an active participant in the Euchre Club at the Elk Lodge. She loved to play cards.

Carol is survived by her children: Mary Kinney, Debbie Grogis, Brenda (Alan) Didonato, Glenda (Shawn) Hood, and Michael Chalkey; her sister Lorraine Creek; her grandchildren: Steven, Samantha, David, Brittany, Nicole, Madison, Alexander, and Kiara; her great-grandchildren: Amelia and Evelyn; and 1 expected great-grandson “Cody”, along with several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alexander, and her siblings: Dolores, Leona, Sonny, and Darlene.

Visitation on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 2 – 6 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI. She will lie in state on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at TriPoint Church of God, Mio, Michigan from 2 PM until Funeral Services at 3 PM with Pastor Jody Coon officiating. Interment at Kittle Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
