Calvin H. Hochstetler

Calvin H. Hochstetler, age 91 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at McLaren Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City, MI on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.
Calvin was born in Mio, Michigan on January 10, 1924 to William and Mamie (Huffman) Hochstetler. He was raised in Mio and married his wife Nancy on November 7, 1942. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. The couple moved to Detroit in 1950, where they raised their family. Calvin worked for Ford Motor Company-Rouge Plant. After his retirement, he moved back to Mio in 1986. He was a member of the Mio United Methodist Church, and a Life Member of the Mio VFW Post #4126. Calvin was an avid coin collector and a horse racing fan who especially enjoyed calculating the odds. He enjoyed spending time with his family and is now at peace with his beloved wife, Nancy.
Calvin is survived by his children: Bill (Alice) Hochstetler of Richmond, VA; Cathy (Jim) Price of Belleville, MI; Jerry (Nancy) Hochstetler of Byron Center, MI; and Sandy (Dale) Handrich of Mio, MI ; 10 grandchildren: John, Janess, Brian, Jackie, Danielle, Jaleesa, Ashley, Christopher, Nancy Mae, and Anna Maria; 7 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Caitlyn, Jake, Stephani, Michael, Josie, and Calvin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nancy; his son Frederick Hochstetler and his siblings: Fred, Donna, Edna, and Willis.
Visitation Saturday, August 22, 2015, from 4-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan, and again on Sunday, August 23, 2015, from 2 PM until the time of Funeral Services at 3 PM at the Mio United Methodist Church with Pastor Brenda Klacking officiating . Interment will follow at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, Michigan, with Military Honors offered by the Mio VFW Post #4126.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Wounded Warriors Project.
