Burr Alderton Matson, age 90, of Mio, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Home at AuSable Valley Community in Fairview. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 4 PM at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, with John Emery officiating.
Burr was born on August 3, 1919 to Amil and Mary Orinda (Alderton) Matson in Maltby, MI in Ogemaw County. As a young man, he lived between McKinley and Saginaw, MI. During the Depression, he was in the CCC Camps, until joining the US Army. He served his country during WWII in Italy. Burr married Helen Eraine Jacques on January 2, 1942. He was a member of the I.B.E.W.L.U. #606 of Orlando, FL for 65+ years. The couple lived between Mio, MI and Orlando, FL until retiring in Mio in the mid 1970â??s. Burr enjoyed the fresh Northern air, the warm sunshine, and the cold water. He also enjoyed playing cards with his wife and friends at the Moose lodge where they were members. He is now reunited with his wife Helen Eraine Matson of 67 years.
Burr is survived by his children: Mary M. Matson of Spring Hill ,FL and Mark & Maureen Matson of Perry, MI; his sisters: Margie Clapp, Paulie Winton, and Joanie King; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
He will be dearly missed â?? Love from your family.
