Bruce N. Smith

Bruce Neal Smith, age 73 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 9, 2014.
Bruce was born in Pontiac, Michigan on November 18, 1940 to Paul and Margaret (Schaffer) Smith. He lived in Pontiac where he worked for GM Fischer Body and the Oakland County Road Commission. Bruce moved to Mio in 1978 where he worked for the State Highway Department. He retired in 1997. He had been a member of the Mio Dummy Club. Bruce enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada; following the games of the Detroit Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings; and reading his Bible. He will be remembered as a very giving man.
Bruce is survived by his brother Rex (Ann) Smith of Commerce Twp., MI; his nieces Amy Smith of West Bloomfield, MI and Carrie (Jay) Smith-Anderson of Alexandria, VA; 2 grand-nephews: Jack Anderson and Pierce Anderson; and his many friends in the Mio Area. He was preceded in death by his parents: Margaret and Paul Smith.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 11 AM - 1 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan with Funeral Services at 1 PM, officiated by Pastor Russell Bowman. Cremation will follow the Funeral Service. A Graveside Service with interment of ashes will be held at a later date at Kittle Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
Memorial donations may be made to the Oscoda County Council on Aging
