Boyd Milton Rogers

Boyd Rogers, age 95 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at The Home at Wellspring Lutheran Services on Saturday, December 13, 2014
Boyd was born in Fairview, Michigan on October 30, 1919 to Charles Milton and Suzanne (Stutesman) Rogers. He married Edith Gascho on October 25, 1942 in Fairview, MI. Boyd was a farmer, drove truck in the 1950’s, and drove his own cream truck until the 1960’s. He then worked as a piano technician; repairing and tuning pianos until retiring in 2005. Boyd was a lifetime member of the Fairview Mennonite Church, where he served for many years as Songleader and as a member of church quartets. He also was a member of a barbershop quartet and chorus, and played the Hawaiian guitar. He drove bus for Camp Barakal and the Michigan Trail Riders. Boyd enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, & archery, and he loved dogs.
Boyd is survived by his wife Edith of Fairview, MI; his children: Myra and Roger Yoder of Fairview, MI; Kristi and Dennis Morkert of Westland, MI; Shawn and Paul Esch of Fairview, MI; Bradly Rogers of Comins, MI and Kirk Rogers of Fairview, MI; his grandchildren: Derek Yoder, Andrea Lee, Paige Chaney, Deana Lynch, Stephany Valk, Ryan Rogers, Tia Rogers, Tania Oliver, and Chelsea Morkert; his great- grandchildren: Olivia, Chloe, & Silas Lee; Katherine, Rebekah, Joel, & Owen Yoder; Gabriel, Ian, Micah, & Graysen Lynch; and Harper Valk. His sisters: Hilda Dahl and Josephine Kauffman, both of Fairview, MI; and many nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents: Milt & Susie Rogers; his brother Ray Rogers; his sister Eula Swartz; his daughter Shelley Rogers and his grandsons: Casey, Corey, and Thad Yoder.
Visitation Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 1 PM at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Fairview, Michigan. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan.
