Beatrice M Simmonds

Beatrice M. Simmonds, age 97 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at The Home at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Fairview on Saturday, January 17, 2015.
Beatrice was born in Comins, Michigan on September 29, 1917 to Harry Ivor and Blanche (Huffman) Norgrove. She was a Mio High School graduate. Beatrice married Russel Simmonds in 1951. Beatrice worked at the soda fountain in the Mio Drug Store in the 1940’s, then at McCormick’s Store in the 1950’s, and then at the Courthouse for the welfare department. She and Russel moved to Allegan, MI, where Beatrice worked as a Medical Secretary at the hospital, for 22 years before returning to Mio in 1981. She was a member of the Mio Rebekah Lodge #16 and several other clubs as well. She was also a member of the Mio United Methodist Church. Beatrice loved helping people, cooking, baking, sewing, basket weaving, and antiquing. She was a very loving aunt and will be dearly missed.
Beatrice is survived by 9 nieces and nephews: Gary Marsh, Jerry Marsh, Diane (Marsh) Urbansk, Bonnie (Perry) Rollins, Peggy (Perry) Havier, Sherrie Perry, Tammy (Perry) Iaconille, Linda (Baumgardner) Sullivan, and Sandy Baumgardner; 19 great-nieces and nephews; 33 great-great nieces and nephews; and 1 great-great-great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Russel Simmonds; her sisters: Louise Marsh, Bessie Baumgardner, and Iva Perry; and her brother Harry Ivor Norgrove, Jr.
Visitation on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home; and again on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 11 AM at the Mio United Methodist Church, Mio, Michigan with Pastor Brenda Klacking officiating. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
