Barbara Jean Mehnert

Barbara Jean (AKA Bushie) would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call. A
sort of an offer you can't refuse for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This
assignment comes with a huge sign on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a
long time. They are so excited for her to be there and greet her with open arms. Her new mission takes
her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing and eating to her heart's content. Where
music, laughter and love are guaranteed. She left detailed instructions for her daughters, grand kids and .
friends to celebrate her mission here, which is now completed.
Barbara Jean was born in Bay City, Michigan January 15, 1948 to Walter and Marie Witzke. She joined
her brother, Jerry Witzke, and sister, Betsy Weber. She grew up in Bay City and graduated from Bay City
Central. At school, she met the love of her life, Michael Mehnert. Barbara became a Nurse and Michael
was in the Army. Being an Army wife, they were able to travel to numerous countries including her
favorites Germany and Switzerland. After traveling Michael and Barbara found their calling to come to
Northern Michigan where they built their house in Rose City, Michigan. Soon they had two daughters,
Mandy and Jen. Barbara was a nurse in Rose City and Mio at a nursing home until retirement.
Barbara is survived by daughter Mandy (Dan) Tchorzynski of Comins, Michigan and daughter Jennifer
(Todd) Wilkins of Leesburg, Virginia, and grandchildren Patrick and Scott Wilkins and Avery Tchorzynski.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marie Witzke, brother Jerry Witzke, and sister Betsy
Weber.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Lashley Funeral home at with gathering beginning at 10:00 AM service at 11:00 AM.
Following will be a luncheon at 12:00 p.m. at Comins Eagles.
