Arnold Abbe

Arnold Arlie Abbe, age 88, of Comins, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, at his home.  In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arnold was born on February 1, 1922 to Basil and Beatrice (Sample) Abbe in Rust Township , MI and moved Comins as a boy. He married Veronica Fern (Lunning) Abbe 67 years ago.  He moved to Detroit and worked for the Tank Arsenal during WWII.  Later he returned to Comins; working briefly for Oscoda County before becoming a self-employed woodsman and trapper.  He played on the Comins baseball team for many years and enjoyed all sports, especially fishing.  He cherished the times travelling to Longlac , Canada , for fishing trips with his wife and his brother Royce.

Surviving are his wife Veronica F. Abbe; his daughter Neomi (Eugene) Schanck of Lewiston; his sister Gloria (Frank) Emig of Comins; his brother Royce Abbe of Mio; 5 grandchildren:  Todd, George, Narcy, Dud, and Tara; 6 great grandchildren:  Jesse, Emily, Bridget, Nicky, Kole, and Courtney; 1 great-great granddaughter Rachel; several nieces and nephews; and his ""best friend""-his dog Blade.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Virgil Abbe; his brother Asil Abbe; and his grandson Virgie Abbe.
