Arlene G. Evans

Mrs. Arlene G. Evans, age 89, of Mio, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at The Home at AuSable Valley Community. Visitation Sunday, April 5, 2009 from 3-9 P.M. at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio. Funeral service held Monday, April 6, 2009, at 1 P.M. at the Mio Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Bill Cowin officiating. Interment at Kittle Cemetery. Arlene was born on December 9, 1919 in New Lothrop, Michigan to Henry L. and Gladys N. (Smith) Horton. She married William Evans in December of 1935. They moved to Mio in 1949. Arlene owned and operated Arleneâ??s Beauty Shop in Mio for 25 years in the 1950â??s and 60â??s. She was a member of the Mio Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a volunteer member of the Community Service Center. Arlene enjoyed painting in her spare time. She will be remembered by her family as a very loving mother. Arlene is survived by her children: Bill (Janice) Evans of Mio; Nina Mae (Chet) Krol of Johannesburg; and Jean (Dick) Smith of Mio; her sisters: Marceline (Bob) Peterson of Nekomis, Florida; Phyllis (Louis) McKinney of Biglow, Arkansas; and Grayce Shephard of Mio; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William. Memorial Donations may be made to Mio Seventh-day Adventist Church. These arrangements handled by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.
