Ardith M. Crowell

Ardith M. Crowell, age 82 of Curran, Michigan, passed away at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital in Bay City, MI on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

Ardith was born in Mio, Michigan on April 14, 1935 to Melvin J. and Reathel G. (Yoder) Shantz. She always lived within 30 miles of where she was born and raised. Ardith worked for the US Post Office for 31 years, the last 16 of which as Postmaster in Curran, Michigan. She served on the Alcona County Election Board, and also on the Mitchell Township Zoning Board for 30 years. She attended Praxis Church in Mio. Ardith always had a smile and usually a joke for everyone.

Ardith is survived by her husband Donald Crowell; her children: Gwen Mallett, Sandra (Ben) Bills, Donita (Henry) Charron, and Judy (Mike) Rouleau; her sister Judith (Ted) Hill; her brother Merlin (Sally) Shantz; her sister-in-law Nancy Toman, and her grandchildren: Billie Jean Bills, Gregory Bills, Chris "C.J." Charron, Danette (Jim) May, Robert (La Shan) Mallett, Aaron (Alyssa) White, Morgan (James) Wiedbrauk-Crowell, and Johnna (Gary) Wiedbrauk. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Cullen Durfee, Kyla Durfee, Autumn May, Shay Kobel, Aiden Charron, Landon Mallett, Austin White, Elizabeth Stanley, Layla Stanley, Aiden Stanley, and Gaige Stanley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family of the heart. Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; a still-born daughter Shirley; her sister and brother -in -law: Ann and Harold Milam; and her brother Bryce "Bud" Shantz.

Visitation on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with Funeral Services at 2 PM with Pastor Cody Gascho officiating. Interment at Flynn Valley Cemetery, Curran, Michigan.
