Mr. Anton (Andy) Koltvedt, 89, of Curran, MI, formerly of Royal Oak, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his home. Andy was born in New York, New York on January 27, 1922, the son of the late Ole and Signe (Gulestol) Koltvedt. Andy married his wife Ruth (Dunkel) on June 28, 1947. He was a WWII Navy veteran, and a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Mio. Andy was a printer by trade and retired in 1977. He and Ruth were happily married for 64 years. Andy is survived by his wife Ruth; 2 sons: Lynn (Peggy) of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Ken (Gwen) of Marquette, MI; 2 daughters: Jeanne Koltvedt of Leroy, MI, Donna (Paul) Walter of Troy, MI and a precious Grandfather of 12 grandchildren and loving Great Grandfather of 16. Andy is also survived by his 3 brothers: Trygve Koltvedt of FL, Robert (Betty) Koltvedt of OR and Gordon (Pat) Anderson of MI. Andy is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Joyce, brother Edwin, and sister Solveig.
Viewing and service will take place Friday July 22, 2011, at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the service at 2:00 PM. Military honors, by the Luzerne American Legion Post #162 will be offered at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church, PO Box 112, Mio, MI 48647 or to the Hospice of Michigan, 112 W. Chisholm St., Alpena, MI 49707.
