Anthony A. Mazza, age 95 of Mio, Michigan, passed away Peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017.
Anthony was born in Ischia, Italy on December 24, 1921 to Ciro and Loretta (Gusto) Mazza. He moved to the US from Italy in 1926. Tony served his country in the US Army during WWII. He married Ingeborg Geisinger on July 7, 1956 in White Lake, MI. Tony worked as a salesman and later owned and operated Cadillac Window and Building Corp. in Southfield, MI. The couple retired to Mio, MI in 1989 from Clinton Twp., MI. Tony was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio, and was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He had enjoyed the outdoors, and he was dedicated to his wife Inge.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 60 years Inge Mazza of Mio, MI; his children: Laura (Michael) Teichow of Mio, MI; and John (Leslie) Mazza of Shelby Twp., MI; his sister Mary (Everett) Carter of Clinton Twp., MI; his grandchildren: Bret Rizzo, Kristen Lawrence, Jeffrey McMahon, Alex McMahon, Anthony Mazza, Joseph, Ava and Marco Mazza; and his great-grandchildren: Jacob, Seth, Alexander, Nathan and Abbie Rizzo; and Nolan and Jonah Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Visitation on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 4 – 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with a Vigil Prayer Service and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree service beginning at 7PM, and again on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 10 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio, Michigan with Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa as Celebrant. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the services. Interment of ashes at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary Shrine Restoration Fund.
