Sally A. (Hunsberger) Brown, age 71, of Mio, passed away on May 29, 2012 at her home with her family at her side.
Sally was born in Fairview, Michigan on September 9, 1940 to Edgar D. and Marie May (Gusler) Hunsberger. She married Roy G. Brown at the Mio United Methodist Church on August 18, 1961. She had worked as a waitress for many years, most recently at Mio Pizza Shop for the past few years, where she had a lot of friends. Sally enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren’s lives. They were her life. She enjoyed making all of their time spent together special: whether it was taking them to fairs, or celebrating birthdays or other special occasions. She also loved spending time with her sisters: “The 5 Hunsberger Girls”; especially having coffee with them at the local restaurants. Sally had been a member of the Mio Dummy Club Auxiliary. She also enjoyed watching Mio High School and Kirtland Firebirds Basketball teams, reading, and listening to music.
Surviving are her dear children: Deana (George) Schanck of Fairview; Ann Bauers of Mio; and Travis Brown, also of Mio; her 5 beloved grandchildren who were very dear to her heart: Jessica (Chaz) Jackson of San Diego, CA; Emilee Ann (Michael) Chica of Kingsley, MI; Nicole (Kodie) Yoder of Comins, MI; Kole Schanck of Fairview, MI; and May-Lynn Brown of Mio, MI; 2 great grandchildren: Raichel & Brooklyn Yoder of Comins, MI; her sisters: Violet Neff of Fairview, MI; Shirley Brown of Mio, MI; and Gail (Dan) Johns of Florida; her brother-in-law Jack Lee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister Betty Jean Hunsberger; her husband Roy G. Brown; her sister Fern Lee; and her son-in-law Dane Bauers.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 1-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, and again on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 9 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM also at Lashley Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Bowman of Mio New Hope Assembly of God Church officiating.
