Shirley Ann Allen passed away on May 24, 2012. She was born in Gary Indiana on November 8, 1929. She graduated from Mio School in 1947 and married Clayton Allen, on a radio show in Los Angeles, on November 3, 1948. She worked in the high school library for many years and finished her working years as the 4-H program assistant for Oscoda County.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clayton in June of 1992.
Surviving are her four children, Toni (Dennis) Anderson of Mio, Casey (Carlee) Allen of Frederic, Teri Allen of Anthony, New Mexico and Lauren (Jim Davis) Allen of Royal Oak, grandchildren Lacey Owen of Royal Oak and Lindsay Allen of Northville.
She was the rock of our family and leaves behind a legacy of love and caring for many two and four legged souls in Oscoda County and far beyond. She loved her family, many special friends and cats and horses and will be missed by all.
A cremation has taking place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Kittle Hall on Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 1-5 PM with Services at 1:30 PM. Bring your memories, come as you are. For futher information contact Toni Allen at 989 826-3000.
Donations to the Elk Country Animal Shelter in Atlanta Michigan would make her so happy to still be helping the animals she loved. "She gave me the strength to follow my dreams"
