Walter J. Lancewicz, age 75, of Atlanta, MI, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.
Walter was born on August 3, 1936 in Cheboygan, Michigan to Walter and Marie (Viau) Lancewicz.  He married Helen M. Stokes on June 7, 1958 in Cheboygan.  They moved to Highland, MI where they raised their family.  Walter retired to Atlanta in 1991 from Price Brothers Cement Company in Clarkston, MI.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and hunting.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories with them.  He shared his love of nature with them as he taught them how to care for his rabbits, ducks, chickens, goats, and horses.  Even a few turtles were caught along the way.  He will be greatly missed.
Walter is survived by his wife Helen M. Lancewicz of Atlanta, MI; his children:  Kelly and Kyle Wangbichler, Kurt and Tanya Lancewicz, and Walter G. Lancewicz; his 8 grandchildren:  Erin, MacKenzie, Vincent, Sam, Starlene, Cody, Courtney, and Coltan; and his 3 great grandchildren:  Tripp, Martina, and Kelsie.  He is also survived by his brother Ronald Lancewicz, his sisters Judy Rogers and Janice Morrow, and his nieces and nephews.  Walter was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers-in-law:  Roxy Morrow and Phil Rogers.
In accordance with Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Memorial gathering and dinner will be held for family and friends, at the Clinton Township Hall in Comins, MI from 4:00 - 5:30 PM on Saturday January 14, 2012, followed by a small Creekside Service at Walter & Helen's home in Atlanta, MI.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate, Attn Memorial Tribute Processing Center, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60647.
