Mary Alice Handrich, age 87, of Fairview, MI, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at The Home at AuSable Valley Community.
Mary Alice was born in Elida, Ohio on June 22, 1924 to Emory Edwin and Lela Pauline (Diller) Layman. She moved to Fairview in 1938, and attended Fairview High School. Mary Alice married Ellsworth Handrich on June 27, 1943 at the Fairview Mennonite Church. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of the Fairview Mennonite Church; where she taught Bible School and helped in the kitchen for many functions.
Mary Alice is survived by her husband Ellsworth; her children: Sandra Fay (Roy) Yoder of Bally, PA; Sharyn Diane (Marple) Smith of Fairview, MI; Sally Jo (Kees) Dalmeijer of The Netherlands; Fredric (Gloria) Handrich of Fairview, MI; and George (Debbie) Handrich of Hawthorne, CA; her 10 grandchildren: Tonya Yoder, Diane McDonald, Dane Dalmeijer, Lauren (Smith) Ubaldo, Sarah Dalmeijer, Hannah Dalmeijer, Megan Smith, Cody Handrich, Jesse Handrich, and Evan Handrich; and her great grandchildren: Madeline Elizabeth McDonald, Adelain Merlin Dalmeijer, Hayden Presley Lacey Dalmeijer, Finley James Madison Dalmeijer, and one expected great granddaughter.
Visitation Saturday, November 26, 2011 from 9-11 AM at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Fairview, MI, until Funeral Services at 11 AM with Pastors Eldon Krider, Virgil Hershberger, and Roy Yoder officiating. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, MI.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Advantage of West Branch, or to the Fairview Mennonite Church Compassion Fund.
