Mrs. Lois J. Rutherford, age 85, of Fairview, MI, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at her home.
Lois was born on September 6, 1925 in Milan, Michigan to Norton and Elva (Hooker) Grannis. She married LeRoy “Bud” Rutherford on December 1, 1945 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. They lived in the Ann Arbor/Saline area many years, where Lois had worked as a secretary for Ann Arbor Schools for a short time. The couple moved to Northern Michigan in 1974; settling in Fairview in 1999 after LeRoy’s retirement from First Federal of Northern Michigan in Alpena. Lois attended Fairview Mennonite Church and enjoyed crocheting and crafting; and was an accomplished seamstress.
Surviving are her husband LeRoy “Bud” Rutherford; her daughter Lynne (Matt) Seeger of Fairview, MI ; her sister Carol (Vann) Watkins of Saline, MI; her brother Norton (Evelyn) Grannis of Dexter, MI; her grandson Kevin (Melissa) Seeger of Reese, MI; 2 great grandchildren: Hunter and Haleigh and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Jeff Seeger.
Visitation Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 1-4 and 6-9PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI and again on Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 10 AM until funeral service at 11 AM at Fairview Mennonite Church, Fairview, MI, with Pastor Eldon Krider and Chaplain Sharon Koenitzer officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, MI.
