Carl Edwin Beek, affectionately referred to as "Chuck", passed away January 18, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 28, 1934 in Mio, Michigan.  He was the son of Fred Beek and Harriet Hunt.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years Martha Beek; his sons and daughters:  James (Bobbie) Schanck of Comins; Raymond (Lisa) Schanck of Luzerne; Luella ((Mitch) Kapus of Oscoda; and Violet (Kenton) Kalbfleisch of Fairview; his grandchildren:  Kristopher Kalbfleisch, Brad Nichols, Denton Schanck, Nicholas Kalbfleisch, Cody Fowler, Joshua Kalbfleisch, Dustin Schanck, Shane Kapus, and Victoria Kalbfleisch. His brother David of Florida, his sister Violet of Kentucky, and his sister Charlotte of Michigan also survive him.  He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Beek and Harriet Hunt; his brothers and sisters:  Beaulah, Fred Jr., Louise, Laurence, Florine, Luella, Doug and Mary; and his grandchildren:  Sheena, Kenneth, and Carl.
Carl was a member of the Mio Church of Christ.  He worked as a A-1 line clearance trimmer for many years.  He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and summer bonfires.  He had a passion for welding.  His most prized and proud passion was spending time with his family.
Visitation Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 1-4 PM and from 6-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, and again on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11AM at the Mio Church of Christ, Mio, Michigan, with minister Frank Beek officiating.  Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.
